Tehnical information

The conference will be held at the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies (CAAS), founded and managed by the University of Zagreb as a public academic institution for international scientific programs and postgraduate studies. CAAS conducts multidisciplinary scientific programs including postgraduate courses, international interdisciplinary workshops, scientific conferences and seminars, summer schools, TEMPUS projects, UNESCO programs and various research projects with international partners. Also, CAAS is hosting several other institutions or permanent projects and Inter - University Centre Dubrovnik (IUC) is one of them.

CAAS, together with CAAS Dormitory, is located in the very heart of Dubrovnik, less then five-minute walk from the Old City. Everything you need is within walking distance: shops, banks, restaurants, beaches, bus station, taxi stand, etc. The address is: Don Frana Bulica 4 which is very close to Pile stop bus station, approximately on 300 meters walking distance, very close to rather visible Cafeteria Sesame.

Furthermore, there are several indoor and outdoor Internet cafés throughout Dubrovnik with the possibility of wireless Internet connections for notebook users. One of them is less then 100 meters from CAAS: Dubrovnik Hotspot, Branitelja Dubrovnika 7.

The conference sessions on 5-7 April will take place in the Lecture Room no. 4 on the 1st floor with capacity of 36-48 seats. The PhD workshop on 4 April will take place in Lecture Room no.3 on the with capacity of 18-24 seats. All lecture rooms are on the 1st floor and are equipped with supporting technical devices and assistance (overhead projector, slide projector, PC presentation, TV, video, projection screen, flip chart). Participants of the Conference will also have access to free wireless internet installed troughout the CAAS building, including rooms at the CASS Dormitory, via eduroam infrastructure. Other CAAS facilities include a Library, a Computer room on the 1st floor with 25 PCs, open Monday-Friday from 08:00 till 19:00 with Internet free of charge. Within the CAAS building, right next to Conference hall there is a Coffee shop often used for coffee breaks. There is heating and air-condition system in the building to enable the work all around the year. Also, the CASS building has a beautiful courtyard.

ACCOMODATION

For all speakers and participants of the Conference, accommodation is reserved and its cost covered (including city tax) by the Conference organizers for the period Thursday April 4th till Monday April 8th 2013. Accommodation is situated in CAAS Dormitory, situated in the same building of the IPSA (RC 32) 2013 Conference venue.

CAAS Dormitory's capacity reserved for the Conference participants includes 56 beds, i.e. 21 single rooms 13 double rooms and three combinations (two rooms sharing one bathroom: 1/1 + 1/1; 1/1 + 1/2; 1/2 + 1/2). Each room is non-smoking and equipped with bathroom, air conditioning, phone and Wi-fi. Also, during the conference, breakfast and lunches will be provided in the CAAS for all the participants (cost covered by the organizers). Conference starts on April 4th in the afternoon hours with PhD workshop and ends on April 7th by 12 am, followed afterwards by an organized half-day excursion to the coast and villages nearby City of Dubrovnik (optional).

No participant has to contact CAAS Dormitory personally. For all information related to accommodation, requests for double or single rooms as well for the breakfast option at the CAAS Dormitory, please contact directly the Conference administrator Daria Dubajic at daria.dubajic@gmail.com. The Conference administrator will arrange the rooming list in cooperation with the Dormitory manager.

Dubrovnik Airport
 
After arriving to Dubrovnik Airport you can take a taxi to the CAAS Dormitory (don Frane Bulica 4, Pile /PEE-leh/. The price is approx. 30 € and the journey takes about 25 minutes.

A much cheaper but still quite convenient option is to take a bus that leaves the airport upon landing of all regular flights and takes you to Dubrovnik City centre. The buses of „Atlas“ travel agency and „Libertas“ public transportation company stand in front of the airport exit and are marked on the window shield with the sign Airport – Dubrovnik. The bus fare is 35 HRK (approx. 5 €). When in airport bus, tell the driver that you are getting off at Pile (pronounced PEE-leh). When you get off at the Pile stop, keep walking for approximately 300 meters, in the same direction as the bus was travelling, until you come to the Cafeteria Sesame. In front of Cafeteria Sesame you will see about 20 steps. Take these steps and you will reach the CAAS building.
